Coming on Friday

Extra credit if you guess it!

Another Guilty Pleasure

While the movie 1941 is mostly considered to be a huge disaster in most ways -- story, waste of good actors on cheese, etc, I like the John Williams score.
This is courtesy of another blogger.  I've repackaged it.  I also added the first track (from the soundtrack LP).  The added track is the film version opening credits, called the "March from 1941."  Maybe it's silly of me, but I like this arrangement, which includes those dang cannon blasts!

Here are the tracks:
01 - The March from 1941 4:12
02 - Main Titles / Northern California Coast / Something Honorable to Destroy 6:25
03 - State of Insanity / Wild Bill Kelso 2:27
04 - Planes on the Brain 1:08
05 - Mr. Douglas on the Prowl 0:55
06 - For the Civil Defense 2:54
07 - Zoot Suits and Garbage / Landing Party / Hollis "Holly" Wood 5:09
08 - The Ace of the Air / Prisoner of the Axis 2:19
09 - The Acrophobe and the Idiot 2:17
10 - Dishonorable Discharges / Message from the Madman 3:51
11 - The Jitterbug Contest 0:35
12 - The Big Brawl 1:16
13 - Madman Maddox / Back at the Brawl / The Suicide Mission 4:11
14 - Wild Bill Lands at Barstow 3:37
15 - Red Alert 1:13
16 - Invasion 3:06
17 - Hellcats Over Hollywood 2:40
18 - Betty Besieged 1:41
19 - Kelso's Crash Landing 1:26
20 - Get That Sub! 4:27
21 - Right in Their Sights 1:34
22 - On the Road 4:20
23 - The Big Gun 0:57
24 - Trapped 2:11
25 - Wheelin' Down the Pier 0:38
26 - The Morning After 5:46
27 - End Titles 6:11

Relax, It's Summer

You can sit in the air conditioning (if you're smart) and play this album in the background on low volume.  Ah!  The sounds of the outdoors, without the sweat and without the mosquitoes.

This is two volumes of the LP albums from Syntonic Research's "Environments" series in the 1970s.  You have about a half hour of each.

Themes from ET and More, 1982

Here's another of those "cover" albums of popular fantasy/sci-fi movies.  But for some reason this is one of my favorites.  Especially the "Star Trek" theme.  Maybe because it's got a real woman's voice soaring up there on the melody, as in the TV show.

I also like the idea that all of these horn or harp or whatever parts were played by real human people, not programmed.

Here are the tracks:
1) Themes from E.T. The Extraterrestrial
2) Themes from Close Encounters of the Third Kind
3) Themes from Jaws
4) Themes from Star Trek
5) Themes from Raiders of the Lost Ark
6) Themes from Superman
7) Theme from Poltergeist
