Why o why?  “Money, my dear boy.”  You could argue that this is a handy compendium for those who are fans, but not fans enough to have rounded up the original recordings.

At least they admit these aren’t the originals.  And here’s the rub, unless you’re one of those lazy semi-fans:  To the extent that these performances deviate from the original recordings, they’re worthless.  And to the extent that they replicate the original recordings (nowhere, in fact), they’re unnecessary!

Well, now you may grouse for yourself.  What do you think?

See you Monday!

Another edit (a mite better) of the Buck theme is found in my Thanksgiving 2024 comp, MA-204 - The Sound of Adventure!

See you on Thursday for the commencement of 2025's July SPOCKebration!

Classic Thrillers

I was a thrilled kid of 15 or 16 when I watched the TV movies The Night Stalker and its follow-up The Night Strangler.

Part of the fun and thrill was the music of Robert Cobert.  But as you will hear, he wrote other music for eerie things!

01. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Suite (1968) - Robert Cobert (11:40)
02. Dead of Night - A Darkness at Blaseidon Suite (1969) - Robert Cobert (3:00)
03. The Night Stalker Suite (1972) - Robert Cobert (4:00)
04. The Night Strangler Suite (1973) - Robert Cobert (5:33)
05. Dracula Suite (1974) - Robert Cobert (8:10)
06. Trilogy of Terror Suite (1975) - Robert Cobert (6:10)
07. Burnt Offerings Suite (1976) - Robert Cobert (8:40)
08. Dead of Night Suite (1977) - Robert Cobert (13:33)
09. Curse of the Black Widow Suite (1977) - Robert Cobert (7:10)
10. Dark Shadows Suite (1991) - Robert Cobert (8:44)

Happy hauntings, fellow fearmongers!  Hope you fall in love too!  See you Thursday.

Give 'em the Finger!

... Because a deformed ring finger was one of the ways to detect AN INVADER.

This is a bootleg from who knows where.

Disc 1 - 38 Tracks, 40 minutes
Disc 2 - 56 Tracks, 52 minutes

The 1967-68 was instrumental in making a bunch of us Sixties kids distrustful of the Space Brother scenarios promulgated by the likes of George Adamski or Truman Bethurum.  What if the aliens weren't here to help ... they were just HUNGRY!?!?!?

This 2-disc file of Dominic Frontiere's atmospheric music is in one big file.

See ya Monday!

Thankful for ... ADVENTURE!

Yup, on this Thanksgiving Day, the Super Blog and the Record Round-Up are helping you be thankful by reminding you of all the thrills that keep yer ole heart pumpin' ...
This project began in the late 1970s when I held the condenser mic of my cassette recorder up to the speaker of our TV and recorded the audio of the opening credits of Jonny Quest and The Man from U.N.C.L.E..

Full Space Ahead, Junior Spacers!

Beside the tracks marked “edit,” the “Star Wars Suite” and “Star Trek II and III Suite” are also blended by me from the soundtrack releases.

The final track, my space de resistance, is a montage of SF excerpts from film and TV from the last seventy-some years.  (A PDF of the sources is enclosed.)  These dialogue excerpts are laid upon a bed of background fx which contains sounds from Star Trek, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Star Wars, The Jetsons, The Bionic Man, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Space Ghost, and perhaps some others.  Underlaying it all is the haunting sound of NASA’s Voyager Recordings, which may be found here. --- Symphonies of the Planets  --
You might say this is my sci-fi answer to the Beatles’ “Revolution 9.”  What do you think?

See you on Monday for the beginning of SPOCKY CHRISTMAS 2024!

An Interesting Product of Its Time

This is the 1982 OST of the animated film.

It Says So Right on the Label

This album is from 1966, part of the era during which TV shows actually HAD themes.  And, these themes are so amazing, they were covered dozens of times!
01. King Kong (2:26)
02. It's About Time (2:14)
03. Alice Is Coming to Tea (3:03)
04. Theme from "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." (1:45)
05. Batman (3:00)
06. Tarzan (3:06)
07. Flipper (2:17)
08. The Mystery Theme (3:16)
09. Clarence the Cross-Eyed Lion (2:23)
10. Green Hornet Theme (2:09)
Pretty competent, more so than I expected considering the plethora of cash-in albums around this date.  All vocals are OK.

PERMANENT LINK.

“Batman” is kinda disappointing because of the slow tempo.  “Tarzan” has several inserts of the Tarzan yell.  The “Special Mystery Theme” is just the Lone Ranger Overture.  The singer of “Clarence” does a pretty good Roger Miller imitation.  Sadly, the last track has folks chanting “Green Hornet” a la “Batman.”

See you Thursday, Bat-Fans!

She's Wild! She's Cool! She's a Spy! She's a Girl!
