Then I caught the movie on HBO. Critic Roger Ebert's opinion that the flick is on the verge of greatness but never makes it -- wow, isn't that the most appropriate metaphor for teenage life, as depicted in the film?
One of the great blessings of art is when you can share the artists' reaction to their pain -- but you don't have to feel that pain yourself! Yes, we are all psychic vampires, I guess.
