God Bless America Volume 3

01. God Bless the USA (3:13)
02. America the Beautiful (3:08)
03. God Bless America (3:11)
04. The Crusader (4:40)
05. Hands Across the Sea (2:42)
06. The Diplomat March (3:10)
07. The Thunderer (2:35)
08. El Capitan (2:18)
09. American Patrol (3:36)
10. Amazing Grace (4:19)
11. The Star Spangled Banner (1:42)

This is what you may call "Various Artists," but none of them are credited.  Some notes, however:

Track #1 may be the "original" Lee Greenwood, but some sneaky editing has removed the word “today” from the first verse:  “I’d thank my lucky stars to be livin’ here ......”

#2 sounds like the terrible vocalist heard on DC Talk’s Jesus Freak album who sings some of the lines to the title song.  Just creepy.

#3 OK, but some of the pronunciations don’t sound like Americans are singing.  Especially “from the mountains, to the prairies”

The instrumental marches aren’t bad, they sound like a circus band – enthusiastic even if not perfect.

#10 The woman has a big fruity voice with too much vibrato and she drifts off pitch in the a capella sections.  Too bad.

#11 The same poor lady over-performs our national anthem.

Well, see what you think.  Even such a mish-mash can't dull the wonders of "the only country deliberately founded on a good idea," as John Gunther once wrote.

See you on Thursday, fellow Americans and all other wellwishers!
