Yes, that is Spock in the headphones. The year was 1979. These are some of my LPs, themed compilations, and the like.

Wild, Free, Young, and Dumb

I only saw the movie once (on HBO or some such), but the music I have listened to again and again!

And even though (very slim) Tim Curry DOES have a prominent role in the film, I am "glad all over" that the soundtrack for the movie has ONLY the songs, and does not replicate the format of the American Graffiti soundtrack album, which had Wolfman Jack doing bridging deejay talk.

I was never as wild and free as the life that these songs depict.  But each of us has his own version of dumb and young!

01. Rock Hard - Suzi Quatro (3:19)
02. Talk of the Town - The Pretenders (3:13)
03. Same Old Scene - Roxy Music (3:54)
04. Down in the Park - Gary Numan (4:23)
05. Help Me! - Marcy Levy & Robin Gibb (3:25)
06. Life During Wartime - Talking Heads (3:36)
07. Pretty Boys - Joe Jackson (3:21)
08. Take This Town - XTC (4:06)
09. I Wanna Be Sedated - The Ramones (2:29)
10. Damn Dog - Robin Johnson (2:38)
11. Your Daughter Is One - Robin Johnson & Trini Alvarado (2:10)
12. Babylon's Burning - The Ruts (2:31)
13. You Can't Hurry Love - D L Byron (3:07)
14. Walk on the Wild Side - Lou Reed (4:08)
15. The Night Was Not - Desmond Child & Rouge (3:00)
16. Innocent, Not Guilty - Garland Jeffreys (2:13)
17. Grinding Halt - The Cure (2:48)
18. Pissing in the River - Patti Smith Group (4:39)
19. Flowers in the City - David Johansen (3:04)

  1. There was a piece of graffiti on an I-40 overpass several years ago ... "Life's short - trip hard."

  2. I think this is one of those soundtracks that made more than the film. Sort of like "Car Wash." Thank you for the post.

  3. Haven't we all felt like saying "I Wanna Be Sedated" at least a couple of times in life? Me too ...
