Environments, disc 1

In the 1970s there was a series of records called Environments that featured various "natural" sounds, fitting right in with the whole "ambient sound" movement.

Each LP usually had a different theme on each side, which was a single uninterrupted "field recording."

This dose of cosmicness is a combo of Side One of Volume 7, and Side One of Volume 2.

1)  Intonation
2)  Tintinnabulation

And here's your ticket to "oommm."

See you Monday!

"The Jazz All-Stars" -- or "The Secret Agents" -- Play Just for You!

This set of session musicians knew when they found a gold mine: the spy craze of the 1960s.  These guys were in such a hurry to make a few bucks that they grabbed a handful of secret agent tunes, dashed off homemade arrangements on the back of a piece of wallpaper, and got to work.

They rented a wetsuit to imitate James Bond in Thunderball, got somebody's girlfriend to suck in her stomach, and dressed the blond guy in black to imitate Illya Kuryakin.

(Note the bombs with their labels THRUSH and SPECTRE.)

They figured they could make even more money by releasing ANOTHER record, with many of the same tracks, and credit the LPs  to TWO DIFFERENT COMBOS -- The Secret Agents and The Jazz All-Stars.  And so they did!

And they would have gotten away with it, too -- if not for those meddling kids and their stupid dog!

The first 10 tracks are from the THUNDERBALL The Man from U.N.C.L.E. & Other Secret Agent Themes album.  The last three tracks are the only ones not common to BOTH albums!

1     -     Thunderball
2     -     From Russia With Love
3     -     The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
4     -     Win, Lose or Spy
5     -     Under Cover Agent Theme
6     -     I Spy
7     -     Ipcress File Theme
8     -     Theme from The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
9 - The Saboteur
10 - Majorca Express

BONUS TRACKS
(as “The Secret Agents”)

11 - Mission Impossible
12 - Theme from Star Trek
13 - Theme from Mannix

See you Thursday.

Grown' in the Sun

My guess is pre-1960 for this record.

01  Lovely Hula Hands - Ray Kinney
02  Huki Lau - Mel Peterson
03  Blue Lei - Mel Peterson
04  The Cockeyed Mayor  - Andy Cummings
05 Hawaiian Hospitality  - Ray Kinney
06 Little Brown Gal - Bill Akamuhou
07 To You Sweetheart Aloha  - Ray Kinney
08 Hapa Haole Hula Gal  - Andy Cummings

The rear CD case art is the LP liner notes, and the disc art is the LP sticker.  Then you will know as much as I do!

Aloha!
