Go Ahead, I Dare Ya!

It's a 1978 cassette produced by Warner Bros' "France" division, whatever that means!

The correct track list is:

01. Sound from Krypto (0:56)

02. Theme from Superman (5:07)

03. Action Speaks Louder than Word (3:44)

04. You're a Wonder (3:21)

05. Gotham City (2:20)

06. Movin' Me On (3:39)

07. We Must Believe in Superman (1:43)

08. Wonder Woman (3:03)

09. So Long Ago So Clear (4:07)

10. Superfriends (2:47)

11. Justice League (3:02)

12. Superfly (5:29)

13. Shazam the Magic Word (2:35)

I mention this because the seventh track (last on side 1) didn't mention Shazam, despite the cassette label -- and the vocals in this track say ... YOU figure it out!

If you listen all the way through this, you deserve a pat on the back.  To me the male vocal sounds like Robin Williams doing a schtick.  Who knows ... maybe it was!

Dance, Super Friends!

See you Thursday.

Come with Me to Mars!

That is, listen to some tunes courtesy of the Mars Production Library!

30. Pizza (0:56)

When you get done, you may join me in finding it pretty hard to believe that this stuff was sold and supposedly was thought to motivate somebody to buy something.

Take Me to Mars

Maybe you'll buy earplugs!  See you Monday.

You Can Be Healed

... And this music may or may not help!

The liner notes go on about how music and sound can help you out.  True dat, but I didn't feel any better after hearing this.  No worse, mind you, but my sciatica didn't go away.  Try it yourself!

Yankee Doodle Dandy

You can't say this music ain't flamboyant!  However, I wish some of it were played a little peppier.

Well, that's the end of this year's JULY SPOCKEBRATION.  See you on Monday for more hotch-potch!

You Can Hit Me Now

That is, you can hit the parade ... or parade your hits ... or something!  It's a 1989 cassette with some dross (in my opinion) among the gold (for example, the last track!).

I don't mean to damn with faint praise, but my overall experience was that this CD was an education, not an inspiration.  The America depicted here is more art song than ragtime, in my view.

American Anthem

But it's nevertheless one of the panes in this wacky stained-glass window we call America!  See you Monday for our final week of this year's July Spockebration!

At Least Some of the Songs

We open this year's JULY SPOCK-EBRATION with a 1960 album by Salli Terri.

In consonance with its era, the selections are a little over-produced to my taste.

A more dismaying characteristic is the lyric of "My Old Kentucky Home," which narrates that "the darkies are gay."  Let's keep working to be more honored and honorable to all.

Despite our failures past and present, the American dream of cohesion, aspiration, and achievement should always be open to all.  You and I can help make it so within the bounds of our influence.

01. Bound for the Promised Land (3:11)

02. 'Cross the Wide Missouri (Shenandoah) (2:38)

Salli Terri - Songs of the American Land

See you on Thursday with our next Ameri-Ganza!

Go On -- I Dare Ya!

It's a cute little 1999 release.

I don't know what happened during production, but the above insert advises you to not believe the CD rear.  Don't worry, I corrected the CD rear image in the file.  Ain't I sweet?

You Can See It if You Step Back

This is a 1984 album by Richard Burmer (died 2006), with a lot of enchanting whooshes and dancing glimmers of music. Some of it appeared in Hearts of Space, most memorably (for me) the December 28, 1984 show "Electric Snowflakes" (available for listening here).

01. Physics (4:20)

02. Solarsex (6:10)

Richard Burmer - Mosaic

See you Thursday!

Journey to the Red Planet!

The Martian Chronicles was a 1980 NBC miniseries, based of course on the work of Ray Bradbury.

The theme is especially effective, with its weird, breathy pan-flute-type melody.

01. Prologue (2:20)

02. The Martian Chronicles Theme (2:04)

03. Space March (0:59)

04. Ylla's Dream (1:39)

I bought a three-cassette set of music by Telemann. I've dubbed them all, but have only formatted the first tape.  Here it is.

Universe - Sampler 90

See you Monday, Space Fans!

The Rose Lives

I first encountered this 1985 music on Hearts of Space.  I eventually bought the cassette.

The Fire in the Rose

You may hear the entire program, "Summer Light," here.  You'll be enchanted!

See you Thursday.

Get It While It's Spring!

This is an enchanting 1970 album.  This is a rip from vinyl, so you'll hear a pop or two.

Five English Folksongs:

01. The Dark-Eyed Sailor (2:10)

02. The Springtime of the Year (3:00)

03. Just as the Tide Was Flowing (2:09)

04. The Lover's Ghost (4:02)

05. Wassail Song (2:34)

06. Bushes and Briars (2:44)

07. Loch Lomond (3:34)

08. John Dory (2:07)

09. Greensleeves (3:11)

10. Ward, the Pirate (2:30)

11. Ca' the Yowes (4:58)

12. The Unquiet Grave (4:32)

13. The Seeds of Love (2:29)

14. Early in the Spring (1:45)

15. The Turtle Dove (3:14)

16. An Acre of Land (1:17)

I must admit to a bit of musical Philistinism.  Though I've loved (some of) the music of Vaughan Williams for decades, only a few years ago did I learn he wanted his first name pronounced "Rafe" not "Ralph."

Springtime of the Year

See you Monday!
