Inspired by Lord of the Rings

It's a 1972 album by Bo Hansson.  It's moody prog-rock, mainly organ and synth, with percussion and other instruments along for the ride.  These are musical impressions, "inspired" by LOTR.  I bought the LP in 1973 or so.  This is from a reissue.

01. Leaving Shire (3:31)
02. The Old Forest & Tom Bombadil (3:44)
03. Fog on the Barrow-Downs (2:31)
04. The Black Riders & The Flight to the Ford (4:08)
05. At the House of Elrond & The Ring Goes South (4:43)
06. A Journey in the Dark (1:13)
07. Lothlorien (4:01)
08. Shadowfax (0:50)
09. The Horns of Rohan & The Battle of the Pelennor Fields (4:00)
10. Dreams in the House of Healings (1:59)
11. Homeward Bound & The Scouring of the Shire (2:56)
12. The Grey Havens (5:08)
13. Early Sketches from Middle Earth (8:52)

Music Inspired by Lord of the Rings

Maybe you'll like it.  Or at least be haunted by it, as I am.  See you on Monday!

More Good Music from a Crummy Label

Yes, it's another collection of good music presented by the incompetent doodooheads at Sine Qua Non.  And as note in this previous post, the doofusses can't even get their labelling correct.

You see, there are SIX tracks on Side 2 of this tape. The cassette liner omits the fourth song.  But yours truly has spared no brain cell to identify "Baltimore Todolo."

01. Solace (A Mexican Serenade) (4:23)
02. Something Doing - a Ragtime Two-Step (3:34)
03. Augustan Club Waltz (4:27)
04. Heliotrope Bouquet - a Slow Drag Two-Step (3:51)
05. Pleasant Moments - a Ragtime Waltz (3:06)
06. Stoptime Rag (2:07)
07. Daddy Won't You Please Come Home (3:48)
08. Troublesome Ivories - a Ragtime Rag (2:39)
09. My Handyman Ain't Handy No More (4:07)
10. Baltimore Todolo (2:52)
11. Memories of You (3:55)
12. Poor Katie Red (Eubie's Slow Drag) (4:22)

Peabody Ragtime Ensemble - Ragtime Band

Let me know if it's fun for you, too!  See you Thursday.

Will the World Love Their Interesting Enunciations?

This is a fun and sometimes touching album.

01. Reach Your Hand (2:12)
02. Everything Is Beautiful (3:00)
03. Hymn Medley 01 (5:32)
04. Voglein im Hohen Baum (1:55)
05. The Flight of the Bumblebee (1:24)
06. The Swan (2:46)
07. Stars and Stripes Forever (2:18)
08. Hymn Medley 02 (6:01)
09. I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (2:28)
10. O Shenandoah (2:01)
11. Down from His Glory (2:10)
12. Put Your Hand in the Hand (2:43)
13. Amazing Grace (1:18)

This despite the stereotypical 1970s orchestral arrangements (by Ralph Carmichael of 1970s expertise).  The voices are charming and disarming -- as intended by the marketing staff.

Of interest to me was that Track 11, "Down from His Glory," is not listed in the passenger manifest -- I mean, the LP track listing on the back.  You'll see for yourself in the scan.

The Korean Children's Choir - To the World with Love

See you on Monday, toodle-oo until then!
