Visualize Whirled Peas!

There. I had to say it.

It's a 1986 cassette, with two selections:
01. Relaxation Music 01 (22:08)
02. Relaxation music 02 (23:47)
THIS LINK GOOD FOR SEVEN DAYS.
PERMANENT LINK.

It's crystal synth music with little form but repetition.  So dreamy it’s BORING!

When you wake up, I'll see ya Thursday!

100 and Counting

This is New Agey, almost vapid background music.  In some tracks, I wonder what an imitation-Irish pennywhistle sound has to do with Oklahoma?  On second thought, to call it “elevator music” is too much.  I’d call this “wallpaper music,” or maybe “Sominex for the ears.”  It is competently performed, but somehow is hollow through and through.

That might have been considered a plus, since judging by the labeling this was a handout from an OKC bank.  Heaven forbid that their valued customers hear music that’s inspiring or challenging!  Somebody might become offended!

01. Beautiful America (2:52)
02. Sight of My Homeland (3:18)
03. Where Horizons Meet (4:26)
04. Light on the Moon (4:20)
05. Osage Hills (2:56)
06. A Look into the Ages (2:53)
07. Eagle's Nest (2:57)
08. Grand Lake (3:18)
09. Mantles of Gold (2:32)
10. Wichita Mountains (3:27)
11. Golden Sunrise (2:25)
12. Turner Falls (3:21)
13. Stars Alight the Heavens (2:30)
14. Tall Grass Prairie (2:50)

I daresay you won’t be offended either.  See you Thursday!

Please Come Back

... after you've disappeared into this music!

01. Disappearing Into You (8:49)
02. In Paradiso (5:07)
03. Resurrection (8:10)
04. In Paradiso (3:17)
05. Primitive Silence (2:10)
06. Serpent (8:43)
07. I Say Rock and Roll Prayers to a Dancing God (7:00)
08. Spirit Guides (7:02)
09. [silence] (3:40)

More fine noodling in this 1988 release.  A bit solipsistic, but that’s what happens when you’re on the road to self-disappearance?

THIS LINK GOOD FOR SEVEN DAYS.

See you on Thursday!

Welcome to ... Ze Inner Sanctum!

Well, if you thought you were in for a scary story, you guessed wrong.
It's a 1982 cassette.

01. Heart Flame (8:41)
02. Fly into Light (11:57)
03. Twin Flames Rising (11:49)
04. Universal Consciousness (7:21)

No, it's New Age ramblings, not a scary radio show.  However, in some selections, the vocalizations are off-putting, almost creepy ...

We're posting on Sunday because I'll be under the knife for a while on Monday.  See you on the flip side!

Nightscenes Are for Sleeping

It's a 1996 release.

01. Acquainted with the Night (5:42)
02. Light-Sky-Stars (8:31)

04. Faces (8:14)
05. Love (8:48)
06. The Heart of Midnight (9:49)
07. Towards the Sunrise (8:18)

You say dreamy, I say dreary.  The tiebreaker is the artist photo.  He looks like this whole thing is a bore, and I’ll believe him.

Hope to see you at the beginning of a new week.  Happy drowsing!

Greetings, Space Cadets!

If you weren't listening to Music from the Hearts of Space in the eighties, you missed out on a buncha fun, fellow transcendentalists!

This radio program is still broadcasting omms, philosophical music, and other nifty stuff.

Over the years I dubbed many dozen shows and replayed often at work overnights at the convenience store, or in the car.  This here show was broadcast on January 24, 1986, and released commercially.

01. Michael Amerian - Carillon (3:57)
02. Tim Clark - Invisible Universe, Part 2 (2:38)
03. Tim Clark - Invisible Universe, Part 3 (6:41)
04. Tim Clark - Rings, Part 3 (3:47)
05. Tim Clark - Halley's, Part 2 (3:04)
06. Tim Clark - Milky Way, Part 1 (3:02)
07. Tim Clark - Milky Way, Part 2 (4:22)
08. Michael Amerian - Contemplative Ascent (10:03)
09. Steve Roach - Kevin Braheny - The Other Side (13:17)
10. Steve Roach - Quiet Friend (7:51)
Another fun cassette find!

See you on Monday, if you can get your head out of the stars!

03. Raphael - Silence (3:44)
04. Jonn Serrie - Ixlandia (5:16)

THIS LINK GOOD FOR THREE DAYS.

A 1996 release.  While some of the artists produced some of the best “New Age” music, it cannot be said that this album contains it.

Some of the stuff is pretty dreamy, though.

See you on Monday.

I'll Whisper 'Till You Fall Asleep

Here's another interesting offering from the Madacy recording bunch. Perhaps only interesting briefly, but let's take what we can get.

THIS LINK GOOD FOR SEVEN DAYS!

PERMANENT LINK

You may find this a sleepfest, or it might calm you to the peaceful level you need.  See you Thursday, if you wake up by then!

Wave Now, Astro!

One day early because tomorrow is the prep day for Soonercon 32!

Yup, a world of sensual sound!

It's one semi-glorious track.  I was bemused to see the CD text (image included in file) which appeared when trying to rip this generic disc of background-music-type tripe.  Don’t ask me what the album title refers to -- probably NOT cement mix!

You Are Now Getting Very Peaceful ...

It's a 1987 cassette.
01. Riverroad (5:00)
02. Soaring (1:08)

04. Avalon (3:35)
05. Winter Suite (9:51)

08. Childsplay (0:47)
09. Speak with Angels (6:12)
10. Healing Touch (1:35)
11. Thanksgiving Passage (3:59)

It wants to be dreamy and/or perky, but it lives up to its album title by ultimately making you feel sleepy.

See you Thursday!

Steve Kindler - Across a Rainbow Sea

And a pretty fair bit o' nonsense, you might say! See you on Monday.

01. Daydreams, Part 1 (6:28)
02. Daydreams, Part 2 (5:51)
03. Daydreams, Part 3 (11:18)
04. Journey of the Spirit (24:10)

This 1983 release is cute but really not inspiring or moving.

See you Thursday!

A Stirring Voyage

This 1986 LP is a winner all the way, IMO.

1   Wunjo (Joy)  4:40
2   Sowelu (Wholeness)  19:16
3   Uruz (Strength)  5:29
4   Eihwaz (Defense) / Kano (Opening)  8:43
5   Odin (The Unknowable)  19:01

I really like this one, even if saying the title out loud makes me think it's a game played at a bachelor party.

See ya Monday with something more from the New Age!

02. Celestial Echoes 2 (20:30)

Sorry to disappoint you, but these Celestial Echoes might resonate you into slumber.

When you awaken, let me know what you think, or dreamt!  See you Thursday.

See you Thursday.

Where's Your Sunglasses Boy?

A 1983 album of typical New Age folderal from a master. You might have heard some of this on Music from the Hearts of Space. I recognized Tracks Three and Six that way.

01. Sun Singer Theme (0:45)
02. Hymn To The Sun (4:23)
03. Dolphin Morning (4:26)
04. Reflections in a Summer Pond (2:26)
05. Dancing Particles (5:27)
06. Winter's Dream (5:32)
07. Heaven Within (4:09)
08. Big Ben's Bolero (5:12)
09. Sun Singer (3:59)

Sun Singer

The problem with nature worship, of course, is that nature is as fickle and transient as any other tangible thing. Nature can represent or inspire us to search for the divine. But, like carnal love or like art or food, it is a manifestation of goodness, not the source of the good.

Enjoy these emanations!  See you Monday.

All Aboard!

This 1996 release is a smorgasbord of New Age fun and games.

01 - Morphing Space (Ambient mix) - Christopher Franke
02 - Coba - Patrick O’Hearn
03 - Ixlandia - Jonn Serrie
04 - Chatter - Gabrielle Roth
05 - Sunrise - Dean Evenson
06 - Left Where It Fell - Brian Eno and Jah Wobble
07 - Rites of Passage - Constance Demby
08 - Higher Ground - Steven Halpern
09 - Love Magick - Robert Rich and Steve Roach
10 - Twin Flame - Michael Stearns
11 - Lumiere - Suzanne Ciani

These guys and gals are indeed SOME OF the legends of “space / ambient” music, but these tracks aren’t necessarily the best they’ve ever done.

Celestial Journey

But it's a fun sampler. See you Monday!
