Happy Birthday to Will Rogers and the Great State of Oklahoma!

Believe it or not, I found FOUR copies of this EP for sale at the same time, at a local thrift store.  I cherry-picked the best audio and the best-preserved visuals to scan.

Among the participants in this 1957 celebration of all things Okie is (read the fine print) OKC’s own beloved John Ferguson, aka CountGregore.  (And, yes, I gave John a copy of the CD produced from these files.)

The Ballad of Oklahoma!

Well, that’s all for this month.  See you here on Monday, December 2^nd, for the beginning of a Spocky Christmas season!

Mancini's "Monster" Hits

Sad news for you, friends.  When you print your own disc, it won't glow in the dark.  Sorry!

This disc reminds me of an infant's tombstone I once heard of:  "It is so soon that I was done for, / I wonder what I was begun for."  You may feel the same when you listen and realize the whole thing is only, like, less than twenty minutes long.

Still, here it is:

01. The Monster Gets Mark (from The Creature from the Black Lagoon) (6:50)

02. The Thing Strikes (from It Came from Outer Space) (4:51)
03. Main Title from Nightwing (3:22)
04. Surround Fantastique (0:58)

Mancini's "Monster" Hits

You tell me.  Is "Surround Fantastique" much of a "bonus track," if it's less than a minute long?

*grumble*

Grumbles over, Mister Sunshine here!  See you back on Monday!

Two Radio Dramatizations of Frankenstein

Track 1:

WEIRD CIRCLE:  “Frankenstein” 02-20-44 by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley.  Starring Arthur Vinton (Professor Waldman).  Dr. Victor Frankenstein creates a living being from animal parts, but the tortured creature returns and demands a mate for companionship.

Track 2:
SUSPENSE:  “Frankenstein” 06-07-55 by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, adapted for radio by Antony Ellis (productor/director); Lucien Moraweck (composer); Wilbur Hatch (conductor); Larry Thor (announcer).  Starring Stacy Harris (Victor Frankenstein); Herb Butterfield (James); Vivi Jannis (Elizabeth); Barney Phillips (Frankenstein’s monster).  CBS.  A young scientist creates a living creature from the dead, but his creation haunts its maker in the classic story by Mary Shelley.
